The rules of the tournament

The armies should be no more than 2500 point, preferably painted.

It is not compulsory to join a team but it is recommended. The teams should have at least four members and eight at most. Every team must choose which side to support but there are no further restrictions. In competitions of the teams the larger teams have a slight advantage over the smaller ones.

The armies must be WYSIWYG, but don't have to be painted.

Awards:

  • Best overall (first, second and third place)
  • Best general (first, second and third place)
  • Best painted  (first, second and third place)
  • Best team (first, second and third place)
  • Best convertions
  • Player with the most fluff
  • Consolation prize
  • The winning side will receive a certificate which will be handed over to the master strategist

The overall winner will be determined by the following:

  • Victory points from the battles: 70%
  • Painting: 20%
  • Sportsmanship: 5%
  • Fluff: 5%

You can receive 20+3 points in every battle:

  • 0-300 VP difference: draw, 10-10 points
  • 300-600 VP difference: minor victory, 13-7 points
  • 600-900 VP difference: notable victory, 15-5 points
  • 900-1400 VP difference: solid victory, 17-3 points
  • 1400+ VP difference: massacre, 20-0 points

You can receive +3 points in every battle for Mighty Victory.

Painting will be scored by the judges. From the max 20 points ten will be received if all models are painted (including the base) with at least three colors (the base coating doesn't count, neither the color of the base, or the blending. So if you have a dryad with is base coated white, you paint some grey onto it, with a bit of blending and paint the base green it will count as being painted with one color and no points will be scored.) You will receive minus three points if you disregard the details in your painting. (For instance if you spry paint every model striped with three colors.) The remaining ten points will be handed out by the judges as they see fit. If not every model is painted the second ten points will be in proportion to the number of painted figures.

Sportsmanship will be judged by your opponent based on a questionnaire, and we will calculate the end result. So if  Someone gives every opponent zero points then his points will be nullified.

For fluff you can receive points in a number of ways for example:

  • writing a good background story for your army
  • if you make tables for every battle with spells guess weapons and the like
  • special, or vintage models in your army
  • ALL the items are modeled on characters, even those which are not mandatory (enchanted items, arcane items, etc.)

This category is completely open if you have any good idea and you go through with it and the judges can notice you will receive points for it. This is also the category where you can receive penalty points for deliberately stalling the game, or deliberately arguing with your opponent. This is a subjective category where the judge's decision is final.

We will use the modified schools of magic which appeared in the 2004 Annual.

Every official, trial and armylist from the back of the book can be used if it appeared in in an official GW product (White Dwarf, Citadel Journal,  or GW homepage). With the following modifications:

  • The War of the Beard armies CANNOT be used

  • The crusader armylist from CJ 46 overwrites the armylist with the same name from the back of the empire armybook. The special knightly orders that appeared in this issue can only be included in these armies.
  • In a Marienburger army you can bring RoR as if you were a DoW army, but DoW units still count as rare.
  • WD 304, Empire cult - one hero can have a mark, who must be the general. A Tzeentch mark on a wizard makes him choose spells from lore of Tzeentch but otherwise has no other effect. But the priest retains his prayers and dice.

Special characters are can be fielded, those that are official, as well those that appeared in in an official GW product (White Dwarf, Citadel Journal,  or GW homepage). Except War of the Beard characters.

Special  units are also allowed which appeared in in an official GW product (White Dwarf, Citadel Journal,  or GW homepage). Except War of the Beard units. With the following modifications:

  • Dwarves can field Seadogs (WD 300)
  • Troglagob units can be fielded by any army that can field some kind of goblin unit from a core choice so  orcs&goblins, chaos dwarves, ogres.
  • Chaos mutations are allowed
  • Kislev army (so not the contingent) my bring cannons like in the SoC campaign
  • Bone giant extras (2004 Chronicles)
  • The legendary knightly orders may be fielded by an empire army (WD NOT CJ)
  • The Halfling Half-tank may be fielded by an empire army (instead of a steam tank) but not ogre armies unless you use the army composition of the WD article  (WD314)
  • Dwarves and orcs can bring the special units and characters from  Bugman's Saga campaign

BUT we would like to call attention to the fact that these units, characters and armies can only be fielded if it is clearly visible that these are different from the others. So special characters have to be represented by the official model, the new units have to be converted and/or painted different so that it can be easily noticed. Anyone who tries to pray on our good will will be expelled from the competition.
